The Janitorial-Laundry Clerk is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation throughout the store facility and monitoring the operation of the laundromat. This role ensures that all public and staff areas are clean, safe, and well-maintained, while providing support to customers using the laundromat by operating and maintaining laundry machines. The position supports a welcoming environment by upholding high standards of hygiene, safety, and customer service.
Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
Greet customers promptly and courteously while maintaining a professional and positive demeanor during all interactions.
Assist customers with laundry product selection, answer questions, and provide support as needed.
Communicate customer requests or concerns to department leadership when necessary.
Facility Cleaning and Maintenance
Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and trash removal in store areas such as restrooms, break rooms, entrances, and sales floors.
Replenish and maintain restroom and janitorial supplies.
Promptly address spills, messes, and hazards to maintain a safe environment for customers and staff.
Laundromat Operations:
Perform routine cleaning and upkeep of laundry machines, including lint removal, detergent dispensers, and coin/card systems.
Maintain cleanliness of the laundromat seating and folding areas, keeping the space organized and inviting.
Equipment Care and Safety:
Safely operate equipment, following all safety guidelines and procedures.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety standards.
Use approved cleaning supplies and ensure proper storage of chemicals.
Report any safety, sanitation, or maintenance issues to management in a timely manner.
Working Conditions:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work will primarily be performed in a retail environment.
Work will be performed both inside (temperature-controlled environments i.e. refrigerator/freezer) and outside on a regular basis, in most weather conditions,
Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts are required as a normal part of this position.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk extended periods. The employee occasionally is required to bend, climb, stoop, lift, carry, push, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 25 and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Required Qualifications:
Flexibility in work schedule, including weekends and holidays.
A satisfactory result obtained through a test for illegal drugs is a requirement of employment.
Must acknowledge and agree to maintain a drug-free workplace as a condition of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a team environment and handle multiple priorities.
Reading, writing, basic math, and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge and experience working with Gila River Indian Community or other Native American Communities.
