Safety Ambassador 12:00pm-8:30 M-F

The Safety Ambassador plays a key role in supporting the EHS Manager by promoting a strong safety culture, identifying and addressing workplace hazards, and ensuring compliance with safety policies and regulations. Responsibilities include assisting with training, conducting inspections, participating in incident investigations, maintaining safety records, and encouraging safe behaviors across the facility.

Role and Responsibilities / Essential Functions

• Support the EHS Manager in implementing and reinforcing safety policies and procedures.
• Promote a culture of safety through daily interactions, coaching, and positive reinforcement.
• Conduct routine safety inspections and report any unsafe conditions or behaviors.
• Participate in incident investigations and assist in identifying root causes and corrective actions.
• Assist with safety-related training, including new hire orientations and annual refresher sessions.
• Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and documentation as needed.
• Help coordinate the distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Participate in Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) programs and observations.
• Act as a first responder in emergencies, providing basic First Aid as needed (with appropriate training).
• Encourage open communication regarding safety concerns and suggestions.
• Lead by example by following all safety procedures and promoting accountability.
• Facilitate the safety recommendation program
• Manage the safety recommendation program, including:
•  Checking recommendation boxes daily

Required Skills / Abilities / Competencies

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others positively.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Strong team player with the ability to collaborate across departments and work with employees on all shifts.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required; additional safety or EHS-related education is a plus.
• OSHA 10- or 30-hour certification preferred, but not mandatory.
• Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within six months of employment.
• Foundational understanding of safety regulations and best practices in an industrial or manufacturing setting.

Mental/Physical Requirements

• Mobility: Must be able to move throughout the facility, including walking, standing, bending, climbing stairs or ladders, and navigating around equipment for extended periods. 
•  Lifting: Ability to occasionally lift and carry items up to 50 pounds, including safety equipment and materials 
• Work Environment: Exposure to various environmental conditions such as noise, heat, cold, dust, and machinery in a manufacturing setting; must be comfortable wearing required PPE (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection)
