The Safety & Risk Coordinator is responsible for leading Vallejo Company's day-to-day safety program by partnering with executive leadership, operations, Human Resources, and Safety Plus. This position combines field leadership, risk management, employee engagement, and regulatory compliance to create a safe, productive, and efficient work environment.
The successful candidate will not be expected to build every program from scratch. Instead, they will leverage the Safety Plus platform and external safety resources to implement best practices, maintain compliance, and continuously improve Vallejo's safety culture.

SAFETY PROGRAM SUPPORT
The Safety & Risk Coordinator will be supported by the Safety Plus safety management platform and external safety advisors.
This support includes:
OSHA documentation and reporting tools.
Employee training management.
Incident tracking.
Inspection and audit management.
Corrective action tracking.
Policy templates.
Regulatory resources.
Technical safety guidance.
This allows the Coordinator to focus on:
Field leadership.
Employee engagement.
Hazard identification.
Incident prevention.
Coaching.
Continuous improvement.
WORKING KNOWLEDGE
OSHA Construction Standards
Excavation and trenching
Heavy equipment operations
Utility construction
Traffic control
Lockout/Tagout
Fall protection
Hazard communication
Incident investigation
Experience with all standards is not required. Candidates with strong heavy civil construction safety experience and a willingness to continue learning are encouraged to apply.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
5–8 years of safety experience in heavy civil, heavy highway, underground utility, or industrial construction.
Strong understanding of construction safety principles and OSHA requirements.
Experience working with union workforces is highly preferred.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to travel between local jobsites.
Preferred:
OSHA 30 Construction (required or ability to obtain within six months).
CHST, ASP, or similar certification is a plus—but not required.
Experience partnering with HR on workers' compensation, onboarding, and return-to-work programs.
