Position Responsibilities:

• Identify store-level and field operation safety challenges and related risks relevant to the gas and convenience store industry; develop and implement policies, procedures, and tools designed to mitigate or eliminate hazards.


• Maintain a strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and other applicable federal, state, and local safety laws and regulations relevant to the gas and convenience store industry, and ensure company policies and practices remain compliant with such laws and regulations. 


• Investigate and respond to safety related inquiries from federal and state regulatory agencies, including OSHA, related to incidents, accidents, complaints, or inspections.


• Investigate significant safety-related incidents, determine root cause and partner with operations to develop and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.


• Develop and deploy safety training programs regarding safe work practices, accident prevention, emergency action, hazard recognition, and legal compliance.


• Conduct regular safety toolbox talks with field service and maintenance technicians, on topics relative to the safety challenges and regulations related to the nature of their work.


• Conduct and document store-level safety and risk audits; produce written assessments and partner with operations to implement approved corrective actions.


• Travel as needed up to 20%. 


• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, safety management, or related discipline. 


• Minimum three (3) years of safety experience, preferably in retail, grocery, restaurant, or multi-site field-based operation. 


• Demonstrated knowledge of workplace safety principles and OSHA-regulated standards and codes.


• OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certification required.


• Excellent communication and training skills.


• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.


• Ability to build working relationships with corporate, store, and field colleagues.


• Critical thinker with problem-solving skills. 


• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
