Job Description - Safety Manager

Summary/Objective


The Safety Manager is responsible for providing Safety Management and leadership sitewide.  This position provides support, team leadership, and management to attain Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost objectives for the MAU Team on site.



Essential Functions


Customer Expectations



  • Provide total management of the MAU staff assigned to specific assets on multiple shift operations.

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert with material flow processes and continuous improvement champion.

  • Ensure that material flow processes are completed to SQDC standards.

  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local laws.

  • Oversee management of multiple raw materials that have critical process variables that must be controlled.


 


Talent Management



  • Provide leadership to Full Time Regular Employees within the platform as well as across the Mill.

  • Sustain and support Leader Standard Work for MAU Supervision.

  • Assist with conflict resolution between employees and the customer as well as between supervisors and/or employees.

  • Develop and implement an evaluation process (PDAs/KPIs) and monitors/mentors MAU Leaders reporting to this position. Manage the PDA program to ensure compliance with target dates for FTRs reporting to this position.


 


Project Management



  • Manage the MAU at K-C Safety Program.

  • Facilitate annual safety program assessment, including the Safety Action Plan.

  • Facilitate onboarding of new associates.

  • Manage OSHA Required Safety Programs and facilitate Annual OSHA required training for all associates.

  • Facilitate the Powered Industrial Truck Training Program.

  • Oversee and help development of training material, standard work, and other documents to help standardize our processes and keep our employees safe.

  • Create processes to ensure profitability by minimizing risk of injury/incident exposure.

  • Work closely with the K-C and MAU Leadership Team to ensure Safety is Job One.

  • Perform Safety Audits via SafetyNet, BBS and PIT Observations.

  • Maintain/Trend Safety Data to help define Safety Concerns.

  • Develop and Train MAU Associates to eliminate or reduce the Safety Concerns.

  • Mentor/Coach Associates in regards to Safety.



Crisis Management



  • Be on call 24/7 for all MAU Mill Wide Safety and HR issues such as injuries, property damage, and personnel incidents.



Other Duties



  • Serve on the K-C Safety Steering Committee.

  • Serve on the MAU Safety Steering Committee.

  • Serve as part of the MAU HR Team.

  • Manage SafetyNet for MAU at K-C.

  • Serve as a OSHA Outreach Trainer facilitating OSHA 10 and 30 Hour Courses for MAU.

  • Live safety by identifying hazards, correcting harmful conditions, and improving MAU’s safety culture, particularly in your division and team.

Required Education and Experience



  • Bachelor’s Degree OR High School Diploma/GED with 4 years applicable experience



  • Current General Industry OSHA Outreach Instructor (Completed OTI 511 and 501)


 


Preferred Education and Experience



  • Lean Greenbelt

  • Root cause analysis training



Supervisory Responsibility



  • Safety training specialist’s

  • Direct the activity of shift supervision and 100 to 150 hourly employees

Work Environment or Working Conditions


The working conditions and environments that are created by our customer’s facilities both in administrative areas and manufacturing environments. Working conditions will typically be manufacturing or warehouse settings that may include process manufacturing equipment and heavy power industrial vehicles. Environments may vary from non-air conditioned (hot/cold) environments to GMP clean room required.


 


Physical Demands


This position may require the following to be performed with or without reasonable accommodation:



  • Must be able to walk up to 6 miles daily

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs.



Travel


Occasional off-site training or team building.  Less than 25 miles monthly.
