Safety Manager, VA

Seeking a Safety Manager in Chantilly, VA to assist with paving and utility works on the new terminal  Airport Project. 

Responsibilities:

• 
  

  Oversee safety programs and procedures for one or more project sites (sometimes a large single project) within the district.

  
  


• 
  

  Perform trend analysis of safety incidents: accidents, injuries, fires, property damage, etc., ensure accurate recording and reporting. 

  
  


• 
  

  Develop and conduct safety orientations, trainings, toolbox talks for all project staff. 

  
  


• 
  

  Ensure all permits and certifications required for construction activities are up-to-date, documented, tracked to avoid delays. 

  
  


• 
  

  Provide technical expertise regarding inspection requirements, training, safety equipment, to support schedule and cost savings.

  
  


• 
  

  Oversee injury reporting and resolution; review investigation reports and corrective action plans. 

  
  


• 
  

  Review and approve Hazard Analyses (e.g., Daily Hazard Analysis, Job Hazard Analysis) from direct reports. 

  
  


• 
  

  Create, review, approve worksite safety and evacuation plans; support emergency response planning.

  
  

Qualifications:

• 
  

  Extensive experience: often 10-15+ years in safety / construction safety roles, including experience leading safety teams. 

  
  


• 
  

  Demonstrated leadership & mentoring skills, ability to direct direct reports. 

  
  


• 
  

  Expert knowledge of construction site processes, equipment, methods, safety regulations.

  
  


• 
  

  Excellent communication (verbal, written, presentations) with stakeholders at all levels

  
  

Preferred:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Health & Safety or related field preferred.
