Safety Specialist

BEI Construction is seeking a Safety Specialist for our solar division.  This position will report to the Safety Manager and will assist in overseeing company-wide safety efforts.  The role of Safety Specialist is responsible for the overall administration of safety guidelines and OSHA regulations on the project.  

Responsibilities:

• Implement and ensure compliance of company safety policies, protocols, and plans


• Investigate accidents, implement post injury responses and follow-up, and adhere to procedures that promote safe working environments


• Conduct safety audits on employees, equipment, and site materials


• Identify and minimize unsafe working conditions


• Educate employees on risk, hazard, and injury prevention


• Provide on-site guidance and assistance to personnel at areas with critical health and safety concerns


• Review accident occurrences and make educated recommendations for preventative corrections


• Promote company goals and health/safety objectives


• Identify and adhere to new health and safety regulations


• Act as company representative in dealing with government agencies on health and safety matters


• Evaluate hazardous conditions and assist in development of control practices/programs


• Analyze incident reports to evaluate injury cases based on reported facts


• Coordinate and/or conduct safety training for internal employees and external personnel


• Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies


• Direct industrial safety and hygiene services


• Track and evaluate applications necessary for site safety permits


• Other duties, as assigned

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Safety professional in the construction industry


• Ability to drive for occasional project errands; valid driver license required


• Extensive familiarity with OSHA compliance


• Excellent communication, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
