Job Description - Safety Specialist

We are seeking a hands-on Safety Specialist to champion a strong safety culture within our light manufacturing environment. This role serves as the daily voice of safety on the shop floor — partnering with employees and leaders to identify risks, improve processes, ensure compliance, and create a workplace where safety is part of everything we do. If you are passionate about protecting people, improving processes, and creating a safer workplace, we want to hear from you.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Champion safety by leading with a safety-first mindset in all initiatives. You are empowered to speak up and act before risks arise.
  • Monitor and enforce company safety policies and ensure OSHA compliance on the shop floor
  • Conduct regular safety walks, inspections, and job hazard analyses across all production areas
  • Partner with supervisors and employees to correct unsafe conditions and behaviors in real time
  • Facilitate new hire safety orientations and regular safety training sessions for all employees
  • Maintain safety documentation, including training records, SDSs, inspection logs, and incident reports
  • Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and coordinate corrective actions
  • Serve as chair of the local safety committee and lead monthly safety meetings
  • Coordinate PPE programs and ensure consistent availability of safety supplies
  • Support environmental and health-related programs, including ventilation, chemical handling, and emergency procedures
  • Track and report safety metrics (e.g., near misses, incident rates, compliance findings) to management
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and local authorities
  • Collaborate with HR and Operations to manage workers’ compensation cases and return-to-work programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 2+ years in a safety-related role in a manufacturing, construction, or industrial environment
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and basic safety best practices
  • Experience delivering safety training or toolbox talks
  • Ability to write clear and actionable reports and incident summaries

Preferred

  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification
