Safety Supervisor

Western Distributing Transportation is currently seeking a safety supervisor to assist or safety director in the day to day responsibilities. This individual must be well versed in all areas of FMCSA -Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, as well as state and local regulatory compliance. 

 Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

• Maintaining safety & compliance programs, policies and procedures
• Monitor employees' compliance with corporate safety policies and procedures
• Update and maintain all DOT Driver Qualification Files to ensure compliance.
• Assist with all aspects of training and provide ongoing training as new initiatives are implemented.
• Will review driver logs and conduct retraining as necessary
• Monitor Driver/Vehicle Examination Reports (Inspection Reports).
• Will maintain an active role in the new hire process and assist in recruiting efforts.
• Will assist Fleet Manager with the orientation process and provide the safety related training portions during orientation.
• Provide assistance with post-accident and post-injury investigations to ensure proper completion of required documentation and reporting to the proper agencies.
• Perform a variety of other tasks as necessary.
• Individual will take phone calls after hours when needed.
• Individual must always maintain a positive and professional demeanor and work well in a team environment.
• The individual chose for this position will report to the Director of Safety.

Qualifications and Education Requirements 

• Management experience
• Transportation and DOT relevant experience
• Knowledge and experience in organizational effectiveness and operations management
• Computer skills
• Knowledge in excel and word
• Class A CDL preferred (not required)
