Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Surveillance Director, lead the Surveillance Supervisory team and assist in overseeing the operations of the Surveillance Department for SEG.

If selected for the position you are unable to transfer to any other gaming department within SELC or SECR unless having been gone for a minimum of 2 years from the Surveillance Department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Monitor loss prevention in all areas of Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort and Saganing Eagles Landing Casino & Hotel.


• Deliver and oversee department policy to all shifts per director instructions.


• Make recommendations concerning procedures and polices whenever appropriate.


• Conduct evaluations and set career objectives for surveillance supervisors.


• Coach employees, which may include disciplinary action.


• Monitor areas of training in games to ensure that all surveillance team members are given refresher training on an annual basis to include documentation for evaluation purposes.


• Provide continuous reports and recommendations to the Surveillance Director.


• Establish communication between casino department managers for the purpose of reporting procedural errors, theft, and suspicious or inappropriate behavior.


• Inform the Surveillance Director of all departmental issues and assist in resolution.


• Adhere to all federal, state and Tribal gaming regulations.


• Promote positive associate relations within the surveillance team and adhere to the performance and quality standards of SEG enterprises.


• Achieve financial objectives by assisting in the preparation and administration of the annual budget.


• Provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations at all times. Provide solutions for customer concerns and continually focus on customer service as our top priority.


• Must maintain strict confidentiality and present a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times.

Contacts/Purpose of Contacts:

• Contact with Surveillance Director, Surveillance Supervisors and Surveillance team members to ensure open communicate in matters of business.


• Contact with members of the Tribal community and team members within the immediate organization.


• Contact with Gaming Commission, local Tribal Government Officials, Tribal Police as well as local law enforcement agencies when requested.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.


• Must be at least 21 years of age.


• Five years gaming surveillance experience.


• Three years in a supervisory role.


• Two years of CCTV experience in a surveillance field.


• Experience with the operations of all NVR and Digital Video equipment.


• Must be on call 24/7 including holidays.


• Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license to meet the employment eligibility requirements as they pertain to the position.

License, Certification, or Special Requirements:

• Must have a valid State of Michigan Drivers License, with the proper designation required for the vehicle utilized to perform the job duties, and qualify for coverage by SCIT auto liability insurance carrier. A Tribal Drivers License will also be required if a Motor Pool Vehicle is used in the course and scope of the required job duties.


• Native American preference shall apply to all positions.

• Knowledge of applicable regulatory environments.


• Knowledge and understanding of games and statistical and daily games reports.


• Knowledge of investigative procedures and techniques.


• Knowledge of Policies and Procedures.


• Knowledge of fraud detection.


• Knowledge of networks and fiber optics.


• Knowledge of budget preparations.


• Skill in operating business computers and office machines, including in a Windows environment, specifically Word, Excel, Access, and presentation software (such as PowerPoint).


• Skill in all casino games and the ability to expose or discover scams, cheats, and advantage processes in all games.


• Skill in supervising, training, and evaluating assigned team members.


• Skill in analyzing and preparing reports.


• Skill in managing a 24/7 operation at multiple locations.


• Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.


• Skills in analytical thinking to go over daily gaming reports to find variations in win/loss.


• Ability to train all team members in the rules and regulations of S.E.G. to include SOPs and all Card Games and Table Games.


• Ability to multi-task projects and project management.


• Ability to coach and train personnel.


• Ability to read and analyze general business periodicals and professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.


• Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.


• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situation where only limited standardization exists.


• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.


• Ability to work in a stressful, fast paced environment.

Physical Demands:

• Frequent use of hands, wrists, and fingers associated with computer operations.


• Sitting for extended periods of time.


• Frequent walking throughout Casino and Resort.


• Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.


• Regularly required to talk and hear.


• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Work Environment:

• Normal Surveillance office.


• Frequent walking and standing in a smoking environment and contact with the general public. Constant visual stimulation via neon lights on slot machines, repeatedly changing machine video screens, static or flashing signs throughout the casino and constant machine and crowd noise.


• Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
