Salad Person

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Perform a variety of duties and tasks related to food preparation under the direct supervision of the Building Manager or their designee. Posses the ability to work with co-workers including student employees. Interact with customers in a welcoming and knowledgeable manner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Responsible for cold food preparation including fresh vegetables and fruits, salads, slice meats and cheese, sandwich spreads, and desserts. Prepare all condiments and other foods (i.e. bagels) for service.
2. Assist in the preparation of all foods, including meats, fish, fruits, vegetables, and other food for serving.
3. Set up and maintain service areas (i.e. salad bar), replenish as needed during the meal, maintaining a fresh appearance.
4. Assist cooks as necessary.
5. Clean tables, work and service areas, pans and dishes. Maintain clean and sanitary work and service areas. 
6. Stock serving area with needed foods, condiments, and paper supplies for meal service.
7. Wash pots, pans, utensils, and other equipment when required.
8. Assist on dish machine as needed and/or directed.
9. Assist in the guidance of student workers in the performance of their duties.
10. Maintain production records as needed.
11. Suggest new menu items and recipe revisions.
12. Maintain appearance and hygiene within stated Auxiliary Services and health department guidelines.
13. Perform duties in accordance with established safety practices.
14. Perform other similar or related tasks.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Demonstrated understanding of weights and measures.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent

ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in commercial food preparation.
