Job Summary
The Sales Counter - Hose Assembly team member plays a critical dual role, combining front-line customer service with technical expertise in hose and fitting products. This position is responsible for assisting customers at the sales counter, providing knowledgeable support regarding hose assemblies and related fittings, and assembling custom hose solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Counter Duties:
· Greet walk-in customers and assist with product inquiries, pricing, and availability.
· Provide expert guidance and recommendations on hose assemblies, fittings, adapters, and related components.
· Enter sales orders and quotes into the system accurately and efficiently.
· Prepare sales counter invoices and process payments.
· Communicate lead times, stock levels, and backorder status with customers.
· Work with inside sales and purchasing teams to fulfill special orders or customer-specific needs.
Hose Assembly Duties:
· Cut and assemble industrial and hydraulic hoses to specified lengths and configurations.
· Select appropriate fittings, adapters, and components for each assembly based on customer needs or work order.
· Operate crimping machines and related tools to perform safe and precise hose assembly.
· Perform pressure testing and quality checks on completed hose assemblies as required.
· Maintain cleanliness and organization of hose assembly and sales counter areas.
Product Knowledge & Customer Service:
· Develop and maintain a strong understanding of hose and fitting products, including sizing, application, compatibility, and safety standards.
· Educate customers on proper hose use, maintenance, and replacement intervals.
· Support customers with troubleshooting hose failures or application challenges.
· Build long-term relationships with customers through excellent service and technical support.
Warehouse Support:
· Assist with stocking shelves, organizing inventory, and maintaining accurate counts of hose and fitting products.
· Pull parts for sales counter orders or delivery shipments.
· Help receive, inspect, and put away incoming materials as needed.
Qualifications:
Required:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Prior customer service or counter sales experience.
· Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn hose assembly techniques.
· Ability to read work orders, interpret measurements, and use hand tools safely.
· Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
Preferred:
· Experience in industrial hose or hydraulic industry.
· Familiarity with fittings, threads, adapters, and hose assembly equipment.
· Forklift operation experience or certification.
· Basic computer skills for order entry and email communication.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a warehouse and sales counter environment.
Regular standing, lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, and manual labor involved.
Use of hose crimpers, cutters, and pressure testing equipment.
May be exposed to varying temperatures and moderate noise levels.
Hours: Monday Thru Friday - 8:00AM - 4:30PM
Hourly Rate Range: $16 - $18/per Hour
