Job Description - Sales & Estimating Specialist


Sales & Estimating Specialist | Direct Hire
📍 Location: Dubuque, Iowa (Office Based 90% In Office)
đź’° Salary Range: $50,000 to $65,000 per year (Based on Experience)
đź•’ Schedule: Monday to Friday | 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
📌 Weekly Hours: Full Time | No Travel (Occasional Client Meetings)

Superior Skilled Trades is partnered with a company seeking a detail oriented and analytical Sales & Estimating Specialist to support sales and project estimating efforts.

The organization specializes in doors, frames, and hardware solutions primarily working with Allegion products and partners closely with contractors, architects, and construction professionals throughout Iowa and the Tri State region.

The company values accuracy, strong customer relationships, and professionals who can read construction documents and contribute to revenue growth through effective quoting and estimating.

Position Overview

This role is responsible for reviewing project documents, preparing detailed quotes and take offs, pricing over the counter tickets, and supporting internal pricing questions.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, able to multitask in a fast paced environment, and comfortable interpreting architectural plans and specifications.

Familiarity with Allegion products and commercial door hardware is a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review contract documents, architectural drawings, and specifications to determine quoting opportunities.

  • Develop accurate and detailed project quotes based on plans and specifications.

  • Prepare detailed take offs using estimating software and spreadsheets including material, freight, engineering, and installation costs.

  • Send manufacturer quotes and pricing proposals in a timely manner.

  • Identify discrepancies in construction documents and issue Requests for Information (RFIs) to reduce project risk.

  • Work closely with the sales team to develop effective bidding strategies.

  • Build and maintain relationships with architects and contractors.

  • Answer technical hardware questions from architects.

  • Develop hardware sets for Design Build projects.

  • Price over the counter tickets for internal team members.

  • Review and verify quotations from coworkers for accuracy in pricing and wording.

Qualifications

Required

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in construction estimating, door and hardware sales, or a related field.

  • Strong knowledge of doors, frames, hardware, building codes, architectural drawings, and specifications.

  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.

  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple quotes simultaneously.

  • Basic computer skills. Entry level knowledge of MS Excel preferred.

  • Detail oriented with the ability to meet deadlines.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with Allegion products.

  • Experience using estimating software (Avaware. Training provided).

  • Strong customer service and relationship building skills.

  • Experience working with contractors or architects in commercial construction environments.
