Position Overview

The Application Engineer - Hydraulic Valve Products is responsible for providing technical expertise and support for HYDAC's valve product line, including sectional valves, monoblock valves, manifolds, hydraulic power units, and cartridge valves. This role serves as a liaison between Sales, customers, Product Divisions, and Manufacturing Operations to deliver winning hydraulic system solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Work on projects assigned by Product Managers, focusing on hydraulic valve applications and solutions
• Collect and help define customer needs for valve applications across mobile and industrial markets
• Design and specify valve solutions including sectional valves, monoblock valves, manifolds, and cartridge valve packages
• Provide technical support to the sales team in applying HYDAC valve products to customer applications
• Represent HYDAC with customers, developing relationships with key customer engineers
• Analyze customer specifications to ensure compliance with technical and commercial requirements
• Support custom valve package development, including manifold design with multiple cartridge valves
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving customer issues related to valve applications
• Participate in design reviews with engineering, manufacturing, sales, and materials personnel
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement quality improvements and process enhancements
• Support testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of complex hydraulic system
• Provide technical training to customers and sales teams on valve products and applications

Requirements

• Associate degree in engineering required; BS in mechanical engineering preferred
• Experience with hydraulic systems, particularly valve applications in mobile and industrial markets
• Knowledge of cartridge valve technology, manifold design, and hydraulic power units
• Understanding of flow control, pressure control, and directional control valve functions
• Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics and technical drawings
• Proficient in using ERP systems (SAP) and MS Office Suite
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Must be able to travel 30-40% of the time
• Self-starter with ability to follow through on assigned projects

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in hydraulic valve applications
• Experience with hydraulic system sizing and valve selection software
• Familiarity with APQP methodology and implementation
• Understanding of Lean and/or Six Sigma concepts

This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge hydraulic technology while developing solutions that meet customer needs across diverse applications in the mobile and industrial markets.

Salary is commiserate with experience with base salary compensation between $90,000 to $110,000.
