Job Description - Sales Associate Trainee

About the Position


As a Sales Associate Trainee, you will work closely with and report to a Technical Sales Representative while gaining hands-on experience in business development, customer relationship management, and technical sales. This role is designed for an early-career professional looking to develop expertise in sales and account management within the industrial cleaning industry.  We service customers within the power generation, municipal, manufacturing and pharmaceutical sectors. You will support the senior sales team in identifying new opportunities, engaging with clients, and driving business growth while receiving ongoing mentorship and guidance.

Key Responsibilities: 


Sales & Business Development Support: 



  • Assist Technical Sales Representatives in managing existing accounts and developing new business in the assigned territory. 

  • Conduct market research and identify potential new customers, supporting efforts to expand the customer base. 

  • Accompany the senior sales team on client visits to observe and participate in the sales process. 


Customer Engagement & Account Management: 



  • Build relationships with site decision-makers and key stakeholders. 

  • Support initial discussions on project logistics, measurements, and requirements during the RFQ/RFP phase. 

  • Help maintain customer visit frequency (minimum once every six months or per outage). 


Proposal & Presentation Assistance: 



  • Assist in preparing and delivering sales presentations tailored to site and contract decision-makers. 

  • Follow up on proposals via phone and email as directed and track customer feedback under the guidance of the Technical Sales Representative. 


Negotiation & Deal Support: 



  • Work alongside the senior sales team to understand negotiation strategies and customer contract discussions. 

  • Assist in building and modifying proposals with Groome Engineering team and responding to customer concerns to facilitate deal closures. 


CRM & Marketing Participation: 



  • Maintain accurate records in the CRM system, ensuring contact details, Leads, Opportunities and activity logs are up to date. 

  • Assist with marketing activities, including trade show participation and promotional campaigns. 


Project & Operations Coordination: 



  • Work with internal teams to ensure a seamless transition from sales to execution. 

  • Provide administrative support, such as preparing reports and documentation on business transactions.

  • Interest and ability to inspect HRSG/boilers and work in industrial environments. 


Additional Information: 



  • Frequent travel is required, including overnight stays. 

  • Some off-hours availability may be necessary for urgent customer needs or operational issues.
