Through our long-standing partnerships with processors, original equipment manufacturers, and product designers, we’ve worked for decades to tackle manufacturing and business challenges through sustainable, future-minded solutions.

We are currently seeking a hybrid Key Account Manager/Business Development Manager/Sales Engineer which is a remote position. The preferred location for this role is in the Minnesota and Wisconsin Regions. The salary range for this position is $105K-$160K.

Job Purpose:

We are seeking a commercially driven Sales Engineer – Engineered Compounds to grow an assigned territory and distribution account base through application‑focused selling of custom and engineered polymer compounds. This role is ideal for a technical seller who enjoys working directly with customers, developing material solutions, and converting opportunities into long‑term production programs.

The Sales Engineer combines technical knowledge of polymers and processing with disciplined sales execution to deliver revenue growth, margin performance, and new customer development. Success in this role requires strong account ownership, active customer engagement, and rigorous pipeline management.

Key Responsibilities:

Account Growth & Commercial Execution

  • Own and grow assigned distribution and customer accounts with accountability for revenue, margin, and new customer growth

  • Develop and execute account growth plans focused on application expansion, competitive conversions, and new opportunities

  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new customer and new application opportunities aligned with business strategy

  • Drive profitable growth through value‑based selling, pricing discipline, and margin awareness

Customer Engagement & Sales Activity

  • Maintain consistent, proactive customer engagement through a balanced mix of in‑person visits and virtual technical meetings

  • Spend time with customers understanding applications, processing conditions, performance requirements, and competitive materials

  • Act as the primary commercial point of contact for assigned accounts and distribution partners

  • Build strong, trust‑based relationships that support long‑term growth and retention

Pipeline & Forecast Management

  • Build and maintain a qualified sales pipeline equal to at least 2× assigned territory quota

  • Progress opportunities from concept through trial, qualification, and production approval

  • Maintain accurate opportunity stages, values, and close timing to support reliable forecasting

  • Ensure pipeline reflects real customer intent and decision criteria

Technical Sales & Application Support

  • Serve as the technical sales lead for engineered compound solutions

  • Translate customer application needs into commercially viable material recommendations

  • Apply working knowledge of medical market requirements, regulated applications, and additive manufacturing processes to support customer discussions and material recommendations

  • Support trials, samples, and evaluations with a clear path to production commercialization

  • Collaborate with Technical Service and Product Development while retaining commercial ownership of opportunities

CRM & Sales Discipline

  • Maintain accurate and timely records of customer interactions, opportunities, and pipeline activity in CRM

  • Use CRM as the system of record for activity tracking, pipeline management, and forecasting

  • Log all customer calls and visits in Salesforce, with a minimum target of 20 virtual calls and 25 in-person customer visits per month

  • Failure to consistently meet Salesforce call and visit targets will require documented explanation, review with sales leadership, and may result in corrective action if performance does not improve

  • Ensure sales activity and opportunity data are current and reflect actual customer engagement

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with internal teams including Technical Service, Operations, and Product Development to support customer success

  • Coordinate internally to align customer expectations with technical capabilities and execution timelines

  • Escalate risks early and communicate clearly to ensure smooth opportunity execution

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong commercial mindset with proven ability to drive revenue and margin growth

  • Solid technical aptitude with the ability to understand and communicate engineered compound solutions

  • Disciplined approach to CRM usage, activity tracking, and pipeline management

  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with customers and internal teams

  • Highly organized, self‑directed, and accountable for results

  • Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, performance‑driven sales environment

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of experience in technical sales, sales engineering, or application‑focused commercial roles

  • Experience with polymers, engineered compounds, or specialty materials preferred

  • Working knowledge of medical applications and additive manufacturing markets, including relevant materials, customer requirements, and commercialization considerations

  • Comfortable operating in a quota‑carrying, performance‑measured sales role

  • Willingness to travel for customer and supplier engagements, trials, testing validations, and trade shows (60% - 80% required)

  • International travel may be required.

What success looks like:

  • Consistently meets or exceeds revenue targets

  • Maintains ≥ 2× pipeline coverage relative to territory quota

  • Converts trials into production programs

  • Produces reliable, data‑driven forecasts

  • Consistently logs required Salesforce activity, including 20 virtual calls and 25 in-person customer visits per month

  • Is trusted by customers as a technical and commercial partner
