Sales Estimator/ PM

Job Description - Sales Estimator/ PM

About You

  • You enjoy being the trusted advisor to homeowners on their projects from the first visit to the final walkthrough.
  • You win the "Yes" by listening first, measuring carefully, and presenting a proposal the customer understands.
  • Accurate measurements, complete work orders, and on-budget projects matter as much as the sale.
  • When you tell a customer or a foreman you will handle something, it gets handled and the loop gets closed.
  • You stay calm and patient when a customer has a lot of questions or a job hits a snag. Weather delays and surprises under the shingles are part of the job, not an interruption.
  • You keep your projects organized so nothing falls through the cracks, even with several jobs going at once.
  • You want to learn from an experienced owner, and you are ready to prove yourself.
  • You know the crew, the office, and the owner all play a part in a happy customer.
  • You aren’t afraid to own up to a mistake or to ask questions when you don’t fully understand something.
  • You enjoy a mix of office and field time, and you value both the relationship and the technical side of the work.
  • You understand the importance of making a good first impression and building customer relationships that bring customers and their referrals to us.

    What We Offer

  • Competitive salary based on experience, with opportunities for yearly bonus based on profits
  • Hands-on mentorship from an owner with 16 years in roofing and home improvement
  • Steady year-round work in Defiance, Ohio (schedule is M-F, 7am to 5pm)
  • Simple IRA with 3% match
  • Paid holidays, vacation time, and your birthday off with pay!
  • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance with generous employer contribution toward employee premium for medical
  • Growing autonomy as you take ownership of the role and customer relationships
  • Company vehicle, phone, laptop and apparel
  • Positive team environment with company celebrations for milestones and holidays

What You’ll Do

  • Be the first contact with the client after the office: learn their needs, measure and inspect the project, and walk them through an accurate proposal and price.
  • Learn our estimating, pricing, and job management side by side with the owner, then take on more of your own projects as you’re ready.
  • Manage the projects you sell from contract to final payment, including work orders, material orders, costs, change orders, and collections.
  • Visit your job sites regularly, keep customers informed, and support the foreman and crew as problems come up.
  • Run materials to job sites when needed to keep projects on schedule.
  • Build lasting customer relationships that bring repeat work and referrals.
  • YOU WILL GET ON A ROOF. You’ll need to be able to move the ladder and climb as needed.

Skills & Experience

We’re flexible on years of experience for this role. We highly favor talent, interest, and a willingness to learn.

  • Comfortable with math, measurements, and details. Accurate estimates matter here.
  • A track record of following through on customers, on numbers, and on commitments.
  • Calm, patient, and clear when explaining things to homeowners.
  • Confident enough to present a price and stand behind it.
  • Organized, with a system for keeping several projects moving at once.
  • Strong work ethic and a willingness to go the extra mile.
  • Comfortable with heights and able and willing to climb ladders safely.
  • Ability to work minimal time on weekends and evenings (answering client calls outside of work hours, picking up or meeting a delivery on a weekend, etc.).
  • We encourage you to apply if you have a background in the trades, sports, or military service, or other experience that shows reliability, discipline, and determination.
  • General knowledge of construction or roofing is preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and insurability, as you will be driving a company vehicle.
  • Familiarity with basic software such as Microsoft Excel and Word.
