Sales Manager, Travel Industry

SUMMARY

The Travel Industry Sales Manager is responsible for the solicitation of new business from the retail travel agent market via telephone solicitation, outside sales calls requiring travel 1-2 times per month, site inspections and written communication (50% of time) and servicing the on property needs of VIP guests and top travel agency clients (50% of time).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

•  Provide excellent customer service and telephone etiquette, and actively aspires to reach defined goals and objectives.

• Prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and client contact maintenance.

• Participate in daily/weekly sales meetings, revenue management meetings and training.

• Work with other departments within the hotel to provide quality service to both transient and wholesale guests. 

• Moderate to extensive travel required. 

• Develop and maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and customers.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school or equivalent education required.

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred 

• At least 2 years sales experience in a luxury hotel

• Moderate to extensive travel required

• Exceptional guest recovery skills

• Enjoy interacting with people in a fast paced environment

• Excellent organizational and time management skills

• Strong knowledge of MS Office and Opera

• Must possess a positive attitude

• Must be willing to participate in a learning environment

• Must integrate company values throughout all interactions

• Must be able to quickly adapt to effectively using new software products

• Must be dependable and available to work within the resort on weekends, nights and/or holidays based on business demands  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill tasks. Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs on a regular basis. Requires manual dexterity, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, and climbing.
