Position Summary
The Sales and Strategies Specialist is a newly created role that will provide critical support for the sales, business development, and service efforts of FHLBank Boston's member accounts. This is a hybrid role, with the incumbent demonstrating and building both relationship management and financial strategist skills and responsibilities. Future career path opportunities could be as a dedicated Relations Manager or a Financial Strategist, in addition to other options at the Bank.
This role collaborates within Member Services and other areas of the Bank to generate and retain member business opportunities and respond to and resolve member inquiries and concerns. The Specialist directly supports an assigned group of member accounts, mainly small depository institutions throughout New England, while supporting the Bank's four (4) Relationship Managers that have primary responsibility for larger member accounts. The Specialist also supports efforts that promote the sales of all Bank products and services. The Specialist supports the Bank's member strategy efforts by contributing research and analysis for the creation of strategic content that educates members on the Bank's products and services and assists in monitoring member profiles and trends. The Specialist works with senior staff on projects in support of various Bank initiatives.
The incumbent must be able to develop and maintain strong working relationships with member representatives and internal colleagues. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated professional that can effectively perform within a collaborative environment and can successfully multi-task.
The position reports to the VP, Director of Member Strategies & Solutions, with dotted line to the VP, Director of Sales.

This role is designated as sensitive and requires a credit check.
This role requires minimal travel (less than 10%) through New England.

Most travel will be completed within a day, with occasional overnight stays required. A valid driver's license is required for this role.

Consistent access to a vehicle is required to fulfill the requirements of this role.
This role will have a hybrid work schedule in our Boston office in accordance with the Bank's Hybrid Work Program .

More time will be encouraged in the office to support initial onboarding.
Specific Responsibilities
The Sales and Strategies Specialist is responsible for managing assigned member accounts, and the development and retention of FHLBank business with those assigned accounts, and also supports the Bank's member strategy and solutions efforts. The Specialist also partners cross-functionally with Sales, Strategy, Operations, and other Bank departments to meet member needs.
Account Management Responsibilities (anticipated to be 25 - 50% of the time)
Maintains consistent contact (primarily by phone and email) with assigned members to anticipate and respond to member needs. The Specialist serves as an advocate for the member within the Bank to facilitate business opportunities and resolve member issues.
Analyzes member for potential incremental business. Identifies opportunities and documents progress in the sales management database, . Documents all key member interactions in Salesforce in a timely manner.
Resolves, either individually or collaboratively, the questions and concerns posed by assigned members on a timely basis. If the issue is forwarded to another area of the Bank, assures it has been resolved on a timely basis.
Member Strategy Responsibilities (anticipated to be 25 - 50% of the time)
Contributes to the creation of strategic content, by conducting research and data analysis and monitoring member profiles and trends.
Updates data analytics and reporting tools as necessary. Creates additional tools and resources as directed for use by the Member Services department.
Sales Support Responsibilities (anticipated to be 10 - 25% of the time)
Provides support to other sales staff in the department as requested to support Bank-wide business development initiatives.

Education
Bachelor's degree, preferably in finance, business, marketing, or related field,

or

equivalent work experience is required.
Experience
A minimum of three (3) years of experience in the financial services industry, preferably in a treasury, sales, and/or service role.
Asset/liability management experience in a financial institution is preferred, but not required.
Practical knowledge of financial statements. Financial analysis experience is preferred.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective cross-functional relationships.
Strong analytical skills and a high degree of attention to detail must be demonstrated.
Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
Organizational skills to manage multiple issues for numerous accounts to effective resolutions. Ability to multi-task effectively.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
