Sanitation Supervisor

Job Summary:

Bongards’ Creameries is seeking a Sanitation Supervisor to be our leader and expert on our sanitation practices.  This position is based out of our Humboldt, TN facility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage and coordinate the Master Sanitation schedule to assure compliance.


• Specifically, responsible for plant sanitation processes, ensuring that all sanitation procedures are executed according to set guidelines.


• Ensure the highest standards of quality, product safety and employee safety are maintained at all times in the facility.


• Work closely with maintenance/waste water departments and our Sanitation Rep. on ensuring all equipment and programs related to Sanitation are being optimized.


• Coordinate the Sanitation function for the bulk, loaf and slice line, and other areas assigned.


• Conduct equipment inspection for cleanliness after sanitation process has been completed.


• Monitor and maintain optimal amounts of cleaning chemicals and cleaning PPE.


• Attend production and sanitation meetings as required to meet overall business goals.


• Collaborate with Human Resources and the Production Manager for appropiate staffing levels.


• Train and coach production and sanitation employees on the sanitation process. 


• Conduct probationary employee performance reviews


• Responsible for shift schedule to include: work area assignments, employee vacations, employee breaks, and overtime assignments. 


• Coordinate production startups, shutdowns, changeovers, and experimental runs. 


• Coordinate with Payroll department on any necessary changes to employee schedules or timecard.


• Maintain the facility in an audit ready state for customers or regulatory agencies.


• Ensure CIP and post sanitation documentation is completed.


• Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Must have at least 5 years of food manufacturing experience including sanitation experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity and must possess general knowledge of manufacturing processes.


• Ability to interact with integrity and a high level of professionalism with all levels of employees and management.


• Ability to assess issues, make quick decisions, implement solutions, and influence change.


• Strong project management skills.


• Professional presentation skills.


• Strong attention to detail and accuracy


• Demonstrates an ability to manage a variety of priorities while meeting deadlines


• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.


• Experience in Food Processing Industry.  Natural and Processed cheese manufacturing experience is highly desired.


• Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Operations Management desired.

Working Conditions: 

• Office in a food manufacturing environment, some office setting.


• Extended periods of sitting, standing and typing on a computer is required.


• Light lifting may be required, up to 50 pounds.


• Willing to travel about 10% of the time.


• Willing to work evenings and weekends as business needs require.
