Sanitation Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:   

This position assists in the daily sanitation clean-up of the entire plant area.  This position must also demonstrate the ability to utilize time productively and efficiently.   

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

• Maintains building by washing walls, ceilings, overheads, floors, removing trash and disinfecting equipment.   

• Able to operate floor scrubbers, industrial vacuums, pressure washers, air hoses, scissor lifts, forklifts, fans and dryers. 

• Forklift licensed/certification preferred 

• Able to visually inspect equipment after cleaning.  

• Works directly with the Sanitation Lead as well as Quality Assurance personnel to correct any cleaning deficiencies that may exist after inspection.  

• Understands and able to work with cleaning chemicals  

• Responsible for maintaining supplies such as paper products for restrooms and towel dispensers in the plant 

• Able to work at elevated heights of over 350 ft. 

• Follow all policies and procedures regarding the safe and effective cleaning of all equipment and areas of the facility.  

• Understand Food Safety and GMPs. 

• Able to work in a team environment. 

• Able to prioritize and set goals. 

• Able to work overtime as needed. 

• Use Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures while cleaning equipment. 

• Other tasks may be assigned 

COMPETENCIES:  

Required Experience:   

• Must be able to work with limited supervision.  Be able to follow written and verbal instructions   

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  

• Must be able to work with limited supervision.  Be able to follow written and verbal instructions.  

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively communicate in English commensurate with the requirements of this position.  

• Must be knowledgeable in GMPs’, HACCP, SOP’s, sanitation practices, & Product Trace & Recovery pertaining to the food industry  

• Personal hygiene must meet company and government sanitation requirements.  Abide by safety rules as outlined in company policies and procedures.    

• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate  

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  

Required Education:  

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)  

• or up to one-month related experience or training.   

• or equivalent combination of education and experience.
