Satellite Operator

BASIC FUNCTION:

The Satellite Operator is responsible for the continued operation of the Remote Ion Exchange plant (RIX). The primary function of this position is the operation of the ion exchange system which brings uranium rich water into the IX plant to be loaded over the resin present in the columns. The satellite operator works together with the wellfield operator to optimize the flowrates to the facility.

The position will report directly to the Plant Operator on a day-to-day basis. The position is a full-time position, and the schedule is for shift work requiring 4 on and 4 off shift cycles with day and night tours. Schedule is subject to change and availability on off shift may be required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Record and maintain documentation on all data for the IX exchange process which includes but is not limited to totalizer readings/flowrates, line/column pressures, safety checks, and lab analysis.
• Transferring resin from IX columns to resin transfer trailer with the use of pumps and water.  
• Backwashing IX columns to prevent pressure buildup on the IX columns screens.
• Maintaining filtration through the use of bag filters.
• Monitor all satellite operations and make adjustments as needed to optimize flowrates.
• Clean resin traps as needed and identify maintenance issues. 
• Follow safety rules and procedures in all aspects of satellite operations.
• Perform lab analysis to determine uranium g/l or ppm.
• Keep Satellite plant area clean at all times which includes pad washdown and general housekeeping.

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

• Must possess Texas Drivers License.
• Read and write fluently in English. 
• Communicate orally with other employees if needed through the use of cell phones or radios.
