Saw/Shear Operator (Mon-Thur 10-hour days)

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Title: Shear Operator

Shift: 1st Shift, 6:00 a.m. - 4:00 pm. Monday - Thursday (Overtime Fridays/Saturdays as needed)

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for operation the shear producing products that meet quality requirements.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Understands machine setup including: program retrieval and materials and manual set-up of mechanical brake presses.
• Understands start-up and shut down for machines.
• Diagnose machining problems while performing jobs, making modifications as needed.
• Must be able to read tape measures, use calipers, height gauge and use hand tools.
• Perform press operations efficiently and effectively per specifications.
• Check quality of products and notify supervisor of issues.
• Operates and navigates in a windows based computer environment.
• Read blueprints
• Other duties as assigned

Equipment

• Shear, calipers, height gauges, and other inspection equipment as required; basic tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, hoist wrenches, etc.; and forklift.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) ·
• Prefer minimum of 2-3 years' experience in an occupational function
• Able to read and interpret drawings, routings, use simple math to perform basic calculations, and use basic hand-held measuring devices
• Must be able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and lift at least 75 pounds
• Good, punctual attendance with the ability to work any shift
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to work with close tolerances
• Ability to work in a team and independently
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instruction and written processes

Preferred Qualifications

• High School diploma preferred.
• Possess some knowledge of and ability to identify fabrication industry metals.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Lift, carry, push and or pull up to 75 lbs. frequently.
• Squat/kneel, bend/stoop, crawl, twist/turn, grasp, and reach overhead and outward frequently.
• Sit, stand and walk for up to 10 hours per day.
• Ability to work in a hot work environment.
• Work in a fast-paced industrial environment wearing hearing protection, vision protection, steel-toed shoes, and other appropriate protective clothing.
