Job Description - SBA Business Development Officer


SBA Business Development Officer 

Location: Atlanta, GA (Potential Remote Flexibility)

Job Type: Full-time

Are you a results-oriented professional with a passion for helping small businesses succeed? Are you a master of forging new relationships and identifying opportunities for growth? If so, we want to talk with you about a unique lending opportunity.

Georgia Banking Company is expanding its SBA lending division, and we are looking for an experienced Business Development Officer to join our team. You will play a critical role in the growth of the department. You will be responsible for building personal relationships with business owners and managing a robust pipeline of qualified SBA loan opportunities, primarily focused on the SBA 7(a), 504 programs and USDA loans.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify, qualify, and secure new small business clients by understanding their financial needs and matching them with the appropriate SBA loan products.
  • Develop and maintain a strong network of local referral sources, including commercial real estate brokers, business brokers, accountants, and other financial professionals.
  • Maintain a deep and up-to-date knowledge of SBA loan programs, policies, and procedures, as well as the competitive landscape.
  • Conduct initial client interviews and collect necessary financial and business information to determine eligibility and suitability for SBA financing.
  • Collaborate with the credit and underwriting teams to ensure a smooth and efficient loan process, from application to closing.
  • Meet and exceed production goals and targets.
  • Represent Georgia Banking Company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to promote our SBA lending services.
  • Volunteer your time, talent, or presence within the community that you serve.
  • Actively manage your portfolio and stay connected with your clients.  

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in business development in the SBA industry, commercial lending, or a related field.
  • Existing network of referral sources and a demonstrated ability to generate new business.
  • A proven track record of success in originating and closing SBA 7(a) and/or SBA 504 loans is required.
  • Strong financial acumen and the ability to analyze financial statements and business plans.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor's degree preferably in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
