Job Description - Scheduling Coordinator

VSI, the leading multidisciplinary spinal healthcare practice in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, is seeking a Recovery Coordinator to oversee our innovative Recovery Revolution Program.  This position will join our procedure scheduling team and support patients throughout their recovery journey. This role is responsible for coordinating all recovery-related treatments, scheduling appointments, communicating insurance coverage, and working closely with patients to tailor their recovery plans based on their needs and preferences.  This is a full-time position working out of our Reston office. The position offers competitive pay, full benefits, 401k plan with a Company match, and three weeks of paid time off.



Essential Job Responsibilities



  • Schedule and coordinate all treatments and services related to each patient’s recovery plan to include therapies such as physical therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), shockwave therapy, and various other appointments. 

  • Educate patients on their recovery plans, addressing any questions or concerns to promote adherence and understanding.

  • Verify insurance coverage and communicate financial responsibility to patients.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between patients and healthcare providers to ensure seamless communication and care coordination.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.

  • Support the scheduling team as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.



Job Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience

  • 2-4 years of healthcare scheduling preferred

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google platforms

  • EMR experience a plus

  • Organized multi-tasker; process-focused and internally motivated

  • Conscientious, supportive, stable, patient, thorough and precise; pays attention to details

  • Able to utilize creative problem solving when confronted with difficult situations

  • Friendly, respectful and cooperative with co-workers; a team player

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Operates calmly and efficiently in a highly dynamic environment

  • Exhibits empathy and compassion toward patients; driven to go well beyond what is ‘expected’

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; concierge phone etiquette
