Job Description - School Bus Driver/Driver Instructor
Under general supervision of the Director, Transportation, coordinates the District's school bus driver training program and maintains all licensing records; plans, prepares, and conducts individual or group training programs for school bus and other bus driver trainees. May drive a school bus over designated routes for the purpose of transporting students to and from school or special trips. This job reports to the Director of Transportation or designee
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCEAny combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and five years' increasingly responsible experience in the operation of a school bus with a safe driving record.LICENSE/CERTIFICATEPossession of a valid Class A, B or C California Motor Vehicle Operator's License. A Valid Class A or B Motor Vehicle Operator's license with passenger transportation, "S", and air brake endorsements, a California Special Driver Certificate valid for school bus driving and a current DL-51 Medical Card. Must have a current CA DMV K4 (DMV H6) printout to be submitted with the job application.For more information, please view the Job DescriptionEXAMINATION PROCEDURESThis is a promotional and open competitive recruitment. The examination may consist of a training and experience (supplemental responses) evaluation, written test or performance test and a structured oral interview.To qualify to be placed on an eligibility list, a candidate must obtain a passing score on each test part of the examination process. Final scores will be obtained by combining the relative weights of scores on each test part. If Veteran's credit is claimed, proof of status (DD214) must be submitted to the Classified Personnel Office at the same time the application form is submitted or prior to testing. The life of the eligibility list will be twelve (12) months.
