School Culture Supervisor
Year-round, Hourly

Reports to: Dean of Culture
The School Culture Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the safety of all children on school grounds. The School Culture Supervisor uses a restorative approach to appropriately address unsafe behavior through timely communication with the scholars, yard staff, and administration. The School Culture Supervisor collaborates with the Dean of Culture to ensure that the yard staff are effectively adhering to all safety and disciplinary standards. The School Culture Supervisor models campus values and procedures for safety and discipline.
Duties and Responsibilities will include:
- Actively supervises students across campus—including the play yard, cafeteria, hallways, and classrooms as needed—ensuring a safe environment and consistent alignment with schoolwide expectations.
- Proactively monitors behavior, addresses and documents minor incidents, and reports major concerns to the Dean of Culture.
- Support the Dean of Culture with student investigations, such as collecting witness statements and calling parents in accordance with policy
- Enters observed or reported minors into Aeries when incidents occur outside direct teacher supervision (e.g., before school, recess, lunch, or after school)
- Designs and implements structured recess activities that align with school values and encourage positive peer interactions.
- Facilitates play using PlayWorks strategies in coordination with the PBIS team to promote healthy play, student leadership, and conflict resolution.
- Partners with the School Operations Manager and Dean of Culture to ensure the campus and activities are safe, inclusive, and engaging for all students
- Serves as team lead/ supervisor to the Supervision Aides, including managing schedule, providing coaching and support to build positive relationships and trust with scholars
- Active member of the PBIS & MTSS Team partnering on all culture initiatives
- Ensure that yard staff are being effective and implementing all site playground rules and regulations. Provide active supervision trainings to all staff
- Serves as an exceptional role model and supports all scholar’s social, emotional, and physical well-being
- Supports condition of grounds and equipment for safety; reports to the School Operations Manager if conditions are not up to safety code
- Communicates school rules to students and informs students of disciplinary actions for poor or inappropriate behavior on campus using a restorative approach
- Develops strong relationships with scholars and school staff to ensure success. Actively participates in all school events, sometimes after hours
- Administers light first-aid when necessary
- Might be required to perform CPI de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques, including holds.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong Communication Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Spanish speaking is preferred
- Experience working with school-age children in a recreational program and/or leading and instructing large groups of school-age children in organized activities
- Must hold or be able to earn First Aid and CPR certifications
- Must hold or be able to earn CPI (ProAct) certification

Physical requirements: Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Other physical activities include balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping with fingers and palm, talking, and hearing.
Work Environment: Activities occur inside and outside. The worker is subject to extreme heat: Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
