KIPP Chicago is seeking a School Custodian.  The Custodians ensures school facilities are kept in clean, safe condition for students and staff in coordination with other custodians.

The responsibilities specific to the Custodian are:

Janitorial

• Opening and/or closing building

• Daily cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting of bathrooms, classrooms, common areas, exterior grounds, hallways, offices, etc.

• Follow all school-wide Covid-19 safety procedures and policies  

• Restocking cleaning equipment and supplies

• Responding to occasional student accidents, including blood, urine, and vomit

• Preparing facilities for special events and visitors

• Other duties as assigned by the Lead Custodian

• Sense of urgency and high quality work as it relates to maintaining a clean facility  

Customer Service

• Resolving staff requests efficiently and politely

• Responding to emergencies with a sense of urgency

The ideal Custodian will:

• Have two or more years successful custodial/maintenance experience (required)

• Be able to perform basic physical activity, including lifting items UP TO 50 pounds and frequent bending, climbing, standing, and walking (required)

• Be able to work in an environment featuring chemicals and cleaning solutions, dust, inclement weather (required)

• Have a proven track-record of professionalism (required)

• Believe strongly in the mission and values of KIPP (required)

• Have strong oral and written communication skills (required)

• Have prior experience in schools (preferred)

• Passed CPS background check before offer (required)

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

KIPP Chicago Schools offers a competitive compensation and benefits package:

• The hourly rate for the role will be $19/hr, to be paid in semi-monthly installments for hours worked, as scheduled by the campus Director of Operations.
