Position Summary: Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Assessments and Services, this position will provide Special Education Assessments to students enrolled in our schools. This position serves as a member of the Special Education Department. This position interprets assessment results and develops Behavioral Intervention Plans when needed.

  • Retirement: The Cottonwood School is a STRS participating employer; certificated employees are enrolled in the California State Teachers' Retirement System (STRS).

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in School Psychology or a related field from an accredited institution
  • Valid Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential in School Psychology issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing
  • Experience conducting psychoeducational assessments and interpreting data to support student learning and development
  • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and assessment practices
  • Basic proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive) and virtual communication platforms (e.g., Zoom, Google Chat, or similar tools)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a charter school or independent study environment
  • Experience participating in IEP development and multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience providing consultation and professional development to staff
  • Experience reviewing or interpreting outside assessments
  • Experience using educational technology platforms (e.g., LMS/SIS systems such as Pathways, Clever, or Google Classroom)

  • Background Clearance
  • Tuberculosis Clearance (Risk Assessment or Skin Test)
  • I-9 Verification (Appropriate US Work Permits as required)
  • Complete Required Mandatory Trainings for School Employees
