School Psychologist - 2 Openings

RESPONSIBLE TO: Executive Director of Special Education and the Director of Special Education 
 
GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:  The School Psychologist functions as part of the various evaluation team to determine root causes of students who show difficulties with learning and or behavior.  They participate with other school staff on various student assistant team meetings.  They are a lead person in efforts relative to Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).  In addition to the above, they evaluate individual students using various psychological instruments and assist in developing sound educational plans.  
 
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Shall evaluate individual student abilities and achievement through various psychological instruments, upon referral from the Supervisor or Director.


2. Shall diagnose, where possible, interferences to learning.


3. Shall reevaluate students periodically in accordance with state and federal guidelines.


4. Shall participate in Individual Education Plan Team Meetings (IEP's).


5. Shall write reports on the results of evaluations and propose eligibility for Special Education recommendations.


6. Shall prepare and maintain accurate statistical data relative to job responsibilities and student testing information.


7. Shall perform duties assigned by the Director of Special Education as deemed necessary and appropriate which are in accordance with contractual rules and legal guidelines.


8. Shall demonstrate effective, customer focused, and interpersonal skills with other school-based persons, parents, and agencies.


9. Shall demonstrate effective time management skills.


10. Shall utilize basic keyboarding, computer skills in the preparation of reports and records.


11. Shall participate in additional training to improve job skills.


12. Shall keep all students, parent, and staff information confidential.


13. When requested, shall maintain a service schedule and submit it to the administration.


14. Other duties as requested by Supervisor of Special Education and/or Director of Special Education.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

1. Master’s degree.


2. School Psychologist Certificate – MDE, preliminary or full.


3. The requirements as outlined under R340.1799e of the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education Supplemented with IDEA Regulations.


4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.


5. Ability to lift and carry testing equipment.


6. Ability to work successfully with students, parents, staff, community and advocacy groups.


7. Ability to work well with others as a team member in a work team environment.


8. Possess a valid driver’s license.
