About the role: Effective School Solutions is currently seeking a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to join our team across 5 school buildings in Newark Public District. The BCBA is responsible for conducting functional behavior assessments, developing trauma-informed behavior support and/or intervention plans for students referred from the participating school district. The BCBA will provide training and consultation to school staff on behavioral and environmental interventions, behavior support plans, and data analysis. The BCBA may also provide additional training and support to include in-classroom social-emotional training, crisis management and de-escalation training, and data collection and observation. The BCBA consults with teachers and school staff on classroom management and structuring when required.  

Job Responsibilities 

• Promote and deliver trauma-attuned functional behavior assessments and intervention plans consistent with needs of the student in a safe and ethical manner that promote and sustain academic, social-emotional, and behavioral health stability. 

• Assess assigned students and develop behavioral interventions that positively impact the activities of the school day; attend to student behavioral needs and provide training in  de-escalation and crisis intervention, as needed. 

• Work with other members of the ESS/classroom multi-disciplinary team in leading/assisting student activities and groups. 

• Create effective and sustainable data collection methods to be utilized in a fast-paced, classroom environment. 

• Understand continuum of behavioral health services within the school environment and greater community supports.  

• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.  

• Develop strong working relationships with school/District leadership, teachers and paraprofessionals.  

• Maintain confidentiality of student records and strong professional boundaries. 

• Participate in all ESS team training and meetings. 

• Document student observations, assessments, data analysis, treatment plans, and student interactions following prescribed procedures and standards. Create IEP goals and annual reports and present to IEP team. Document quarterly student progress on IEP goals. 

 Qualifications: 

• Master’s degree in applied behavior analysis, social work, psychology, or related field.  

• Certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA or BCBA-D) by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. 

• State ABA License, preferred.  

• Mental health professional license, preferred (LPC, LCSW, LMFT) in addition to BCBA. 

• 5+ of experience working in a mental health setting, preferably with children and adolescents ages 5-18.  

• Experience and knowledge of trauma-informed behavior assessment, interventions, and treatment with highly acute children and adolescents and continuum of care (crisis management experience strongly preferred). 

• Effective problem-solving and communication skills.  

• Experience working with students and families, as well as community health and social services agencies.
