Stellher Human Services is a National Health Service Corps approved site. Clinicians in both our Bemidji and Detroit Lakes outpatient programs may be eligible to participate in the student loan repayment program.
The Mental Health Professional is responsible to provide diagnostic assessments, therapy, and counseling support services for children and adolescents experiencing mental health issues, communication challenges, or family conflict. Day to day supervision is provided by the school principal and the Stellher program coordinator.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Receives, reviews and screens referrals for services in accordance with district and school procedures.
• Obtains and completes intake form, privacy notice, releases and other required documentation with each family.
• Completes or assists families in obtaining current diagnostic assessments.
• Develops Individual Treatment Plans (ITP) within 30 days of the onset of services. Involves parents or guardians and other members of the student’s team in treatment planning in accordance with district and Stellher procedures.
• Implements the interventions in each student’s ITP and coordinates with Individual Education Plan (IEP).
• Provides skills training and psychotherapy to children and adolescents with an emotional disturbance and their families in accordance with each child’s ITP.
• Maintains detailed daily progress notes, logs, reports and other required documentation on services provided and on each client’s response to interventions.
• Incorporates family members into the implementation of Individual Treatment Plans and activities for child. Accommodates the family in scheduling family and individual sessions and related activities.
• Reviews ITP as needed and/or according to statutory guidelines and revises as appropriate. Makes referrals for other needed services and coordinates treatment with other district and community services that the family is receiving.
• Performs work as part of a team with the parents, special educators, teachers, case manager, and other support staff.
• Assists families in developing and utilizing a crisis management plan when needed. Implements approved de-escalation techniques.
• Conducts activities related to compliance with federal and state laws related to mandated reporting, HIPAA, and the Data Privacy Act.
• Treats clients and coworkers with dignity and respect.
• Works as part of a team to promote a culture of continuous improvement and commitment to the mission of the organization.
• Carries out other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Education and Experience:
Mental Health Professional -
Master’s degree in one of the behavioral sciences and licensed or on licensure track under Minnesota Statues as a psychologist, clinical social worker, marriage and family therapist, or psychiatric nurse.
