Position Overview:
The School-Based Mental Health Professional provides comprehensive mental health services to students within an educational setting. This role focuses on supporting students’ emotional, behavioral, and social well-being to enhance academic success. Services include assessment, counseling, crisis intervention, and collaboration with school staff and families.

Job Responsibilities:
Provide individual and group counseling to students
Conduct mental health assessments and screenings
Develop and implement treatment or intervention plans
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents
Maintain accurate and confidential student records
Support students with behavioral and emotional challenges
Participate in IEP/504 meetings when applicable
Provide referrals to external mental health resources
Physical Examination Responsibilities:
Observe and document student behavior and mental status
Conduct basic mental health evaluations (not physical exams unless licensed to do so)
Identify signs of emotional distress, abuse, or neglect
Monitor student progress and response to interventions
Medical Oversight Responsibilities:
Coordinate care with psychiatrists, psychologists, or healthcare providers as needed
Monitor medication compliance (if applicable and within scope)
