Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities: Assay Development:
Develop new assays to analytically characterize the surface and biological components of our device coatings and concisely summarize and interpret the data obtained. Surface Coating:
Modify the surfaces to create biologically active coatings which improve the sensitivity, specificity, and overall performance of the devices. This includes the operation, maintenance and ownership of appropriate tools used in such processes. Experimentation:
Work with the team to design and run experiments, collect and analyze data, and clearly summarize objectives, conclusion, observations and next steps in team meetings and discussions. Support decision-making processes by providing experimental insights and recommendations. Collaborative Research and Development:
Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate insights into the design and optimization of our biosensor technology and solve challenging problems at the intersection of physics, chemistry, and biology. Continuous Learning and Innovation:
Stay abreast of the latest developments in biochemistry and biological characterization methods. Proactively explore and recommend new assays or technologies that could enhance capabilities or product performance. Quality Assurance and Compliance:
Ensure the performance of all experimentation adheres to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and quality control measures.
Experience and Qualifications: -Bachelors or Masters degree in Biochemistry, Biology, Biomedical Engineering or a related field with 1 - 5 years of relevant experience. Knowledge and experience with biosensors or point-of-care diagnostic technologies is a significant plus. -Experienced with fluorescence and/or confocal microscopy using tagged biological molecules including appropriate reagent handling and operation of instrumentation (microscopes, plate readers, imagers, etc.). -Knowledge of protein/nucleic acid chemistry and characterization techniques such as affinity interaction analysis (SPR/Biacore), Octet), UV-Vis spectroscopy, Dynamic light scattering, SEC, HPLC and LCMS. -Experience with basic organic chemistry and surface characterization techniques such as ATR-FTIR spectroscopy, XPS, SEM, TEM, contact angle and ellipsometry would be a plus but is not required. -Hands-on experience operating and maintaining complex instrumentation. Comfortable reaching out to vendors as necessary, to troubleshoot system problems. -Proficient in basic wet-lab skills. -Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to concisely summarize chemical and biological data. -Highly driven with strong collaborative skills with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment. Open to giving and receiving feedback, sharing ideas, and contributing to a positive working environment. -Strong problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail. -Highly adaptable to rapidly changing technologies and challenges. Proactive in identifying and pursuing opportunities for innovation and improvement.
