Job Description - Scientist, Ion-Channel Biology/Electrophysiology - San Diego, CA
Conduct cutting-edge research to expand our understanding of ion-channels and receptors involved in human taste and trigeminal perception. Perform electrophysiology and image-based assays to study the pharmacology and function of ion channels and receptors. Develop cell lines and novel cell-based assays to support receptor high-throughput screening (HTS) operations. Foster a problem-solving mindset and devise innovative approaches to research challenges. Maintain up-to-date awareness of relevant knowledge and technologies Write manuscripts of scientific results and submit for publication in top-rated, peer-reviewed journals, patent applications, and/or internal company reports. You Bring: Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Biophysics or Chemosensory-related fields. 4+ years hands-on experience studying ion-channel structure/function, pharmacology and computational data processing and analysis skills. Successful track record designing and performing whole-cell, patch, and two-electrode voltage clamp (TEVC) electrophysiology assays. Hands-on experience with high-throughput electrophysiology platforms a plus. Experience screening for modulators of ion-channels and determining mechanisms of action (MOA). Proficiency in biochemical, molecular, and cellular biology techniques relevant to assay development, implementation, and high-throughput screening (HTS) approaches. Excellent team spirit, communication skills and networking capacity in a multidisciplinary environment. Individual pay offered will be based on the applicant's job-related skills, experience, relevant education and training. This position is also eligible for bonuses and benefits, which are not included in the pay scale provided. Salary $97-$130K. The application process Interested in this position?
