Join the dynamic R&D team at Kraft Heinz as a Packaging Scientist. In this critical innovation role, you'll lead high-impact projects that enhance packaging design across renowned brands like Oscar Mayer, Lunchables, Kraft Mac & Cheese, and Kool-Aid.
This is an opportunity to inspire change by groundbreaking new packaging concepts that align with our sustainability commitments. You'll collaborate with cross-functional partners to implement solutions that reduce environmental impact while upholding our uncompromising standards for quality, safety and performance.
What's on the menu?

Excellent opportunity to identify, drive and lead innovative and pioneering packaging technology initiatives (for innovation and sustainability) that will be instrumental in delivering novel, competitively and cost advantaged solutions across the Kraft Heinz portfolio.
Work with cross functional teams to lead, communicate, document and support projects, including Marketing, Operations, Quality, External Manufacturers, and Procurement.
The role includes identifying research pathways, demonstrating proof of concept, crafting / driving design of experiments, technology scale up, and commercialization or transition of technologies to the business unit. Recognize if a technology has IP potential and initiate patents/IDF and other applicable legal documentations such as NDAs.
This individual must have strong technical skills across multiple product/package categories and be able to link technologies to applications, while analyzing data, problem solving, create contingency plans, leadership, championing ideas, build timelines and project management skills.
The candidate must also have a technical background ability to apply prior learning or scientific principles to new situations. Be able to connect the dots and be comfortable managing ambiguity.
This position requires an individual to proactively manage multiple assignments / tasks concurrently with moderate levels of supervisor guidance. Participate and seek new leadership opportunities.
Design, support, and implement plant trials, then summarize and translate results clearly for technical and non-technical teams.
Exhibiting a collaborative approach and applying innovative solutions are a must

BS/MS Packaging Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
Minimum of 2 years in a Technical Function (which can include all graduate and/or internship work)
Understanding of key subject matter in areas such as Sustainability, packaging materials, functionality, pkg equipment/materials interaction, qualification, commercialization, and design of experiments
Understanding of material functionality and interrelationship of ingredients, process, and packaging
Excellent communication, influencing, prioritization, and project management skills
Strong critical thinking skills and ability to make connections to the big picture
Strong understanding of Design of Experiments and laboratory test methods
Willingness to travel approximately 30% of the time
