General Summary:


The scribe under the supervision of the physician/mid-level provider, assists in documentation of the medical chart of each patient during office visits and office procedures. Transcribes verbal orders for labs, imaging, medications and surgical procedures as directed by the provider. Assists in the office as deemed necessary by the physician/mid-level provider and under the direction of the manager.


Education, Licensure, Registration and Experience:


High school graduate or equivalent with 1-3 years' experience in healthcare environment.


Medical terminology required.


Familiarity with electronic medical records preferred.


Above average typing skills required.


Proficiency in English usage, grammar and punctuation required.


Positive service oriented interpersonal and communication skills required.


Medical Assistance training/ certification required.


Essential Functions:


Transcribes the proper medical documentation, diagnosis, discharge or follow-up instructions as designated by the provider.


Transcribes verbal orders according to policy and enters patient orders as designated by the provider without error and is willing to seek guidance when necessary.


Assists in the organization of the provider by maintaining a comprehensive list of active patients while in the department, prepping charts at least 48 hours in advance and verifying all required testing is complete and results are accessible.


Supports the implementation of clinical changes and evidence-based practices.


Demonstrates knowledge of care standards that reflect the professional and accrediting guidelines for care and recognizes personal accountability for the guidelines.


Assumes an active role in keeping informed regarding charges in policy and procedure.


Tailors care to meet the age specific and developmentally appropriate patient needs.

  • Right Foot: Gross Motor Function

  • Left Foot: Gross Motor Function

  • Lift Up to 10 Pounds: 1/3 or more of the time
