Seasonal Recreation - Tennis Instructor

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Town of Smithfield is seeking  skilled Tennis Instructors to teach students of all ages and skill levels

Under the general supervision of the Tennis Director and Recreation Director, the Tennis Instructor is responsible for the planning and implementation of tennis activities designed to meet the interests and the physical abilities of each student. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to stand and move continuously for extended periods during lessons.
• Ability to demonstrate tennis skills, including serving, rallying, footwork, and stroke technique.
• Ability to lift, carry, and set up equipment such as ball baskets, nets, and teaching aids (typically up to 25–35 lbs).
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Sufficient vision and hand‑eye coordination to instruct players and safely supervise groups.
• Ability to communicate instructions clearly in a physical activity setting.
• Ability to bend, reach, and run short distances as needed to demonstrate drills or retrieve a tennis ball

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Ability to work in all weather conditions, including all types of precipitation.
