Second Shift Bevel Operator

Hammer Haag Steel is seeking a skilled and motivated Second Shift Bevel Operator to join our fabrication team. This position is responsible for preparing steel components using a variety of tools to meet precise specifications for downstream welding and assembly. The ideal candidate has experience in steel fabrication, excellent blueprint reading skills, and is comfortable operating a track torch, plasma torch, and handheld grinders. 

• Work Hours: 8 to 10 hour shifts based on production needs
• Schedule: Monday through Friday
• Breaks: 30-minute unpaid break per shift

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain a track torch to create accurate bevels and straight cuts in steel materials. 
• Use a 6-inch handheld grinder to clean, prep, and finish beveled edges. 
• Operate a plasma torch for cutting complex shapes and detailed cuts when required. 
• Read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings to ensure proper cut angles, lengths, and finishes. 
• Inspect materials for defects and ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards. 
• Safely maneuver and position heavy steel components using overhead cranes or other lifting devices. 
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with safety regulations 
• Collaborate with team members to meet production deadlines.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a steel fabrication or industrial setting. 
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately. 
• Proficiency with track torch, plasma torch, and 6” grinders. 
• Understanding of proper bevel angles, materials handling, and fabrication techniques. 
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality. 
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods. 
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends if needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Formal training in welding, metalworking, or fabrication. 
• Familiarity with heavy steel fabrication safety practices and quality systems.
