Job Description - Second Shift Metrology Technician III

Key Responsibilities\n\nPerforms moderately complex electro-mechanical technical functions and activities such as design, test, checkout, fabrication, modification, troubleshooting and assembly of electronics and electro-mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, prototype models, specialized test equipment, tools and test fixtures.\n\nTests and troubleshoots system level and component level problems in electrical and mechanical systems and sub-systems. May perform new system and NPI installations and field upgrades.\n\nWorks from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or plans to perform moderate testing and troubleshooting.\n\nCompiles logbooks and test procedures documentation utilizing good writing skills. Assists in revising, developing and implementing department procedures.\n\nMay perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic \u0026 vacuum and process testing on AMAT platforms to Engineering and Manufacturing documentation and specifications.\n\nObserves all safety standards. Maintains a secure, safe, clean and healthy work environment. Attends required health and safety training and follows safety and security policies, procedures and practices. Promptly reports accidents, injuries, safety hazards, or emergencies to supervisor or Safety dept. Follows operating instructions, uses protective equipment when required, and uses equipment and materials properly. Actively strives to prevent accidents and injuries.\n\nBecomes familiar with current manufacturing and/or engineering processes and stays informed of any changes in procedures. Assists in the correction of problems.\n\nPerforms necessary rework and assists in determining remedies for malfunctions and generates Quality Notifications.\n\nOther Requirements: This is a physically demanding position that often requires standing for extended periods of time, walking, working in tight spaces, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, climbing stairs and ladders, lifting, the ability to distinguish between colors, the ability to work in an environment with noise that may be difficult for some individuals with sensitivity to noise, the use of hand and power tools, and driving or operating heavy machinery including forklifts.\n\nAdditionally, because this position may involve working in a clean room, the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons, and face shields may be required.\n\nFunctional Knowledge\n\n * Has developed proficiency in a range of analytical processes or procedures to carry out assigned tasks \n\n\n\nBusiness Expertise\n\n * Has a good understanding of how the team integrates with others to achieve objectives\n\n\n\nLeadership\n\n * May provide informal guidance and support to more junior team members\n\n\n\nProblem Solving\n\n * Provides solutions to problems in situations that are atypical or infrequently occurring based on existing precedents or procedures\n\n\n\nImpact\n\n * Impacts the quality of own work and its contribution to the team\n\n\n\nInterpersonal Skills\n\n * Uses communication skills to regularly exchange information \n\n\n\nPosition Summary\n\nWe are seeking a Metrology Technician to support second shift (2 PM\u201311 PM) metrology operations in a research and development lab environment. This position is ideal for a candidate with prior hands-on metrology or laboratory experience who is interested in working with advanced materials characterization and semiconductor metrology tools.\n\nThe Metrology Technician will work closely with engineers and technicians to perform measurements, support data collection, troubleshoot tools, and assist with daily lab operations in a fast-paced R\u0026D setting.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Perform metrology measurements in a laboratory and cleanroom environment\n * Operate materials characterization and metrology tools to support engineering and R\u0026D needs\n * Perform basic tool troubleshooting and log service calls as needed\n * Follow established lab procedures, safety protocols, and cleanroom practices\n * Document measurement results and support basic data analysis\n * Collaborate with engineers and technicians to support ongoing experiments and tool utilization during second shift operations\n\n\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\n * Prior relevant experience working in a metrology, laboratory, cleanroom, or semiconductor manufacturing environment\n * Hands-on experience performing measurements or operating technical equipment\n * Ability to perform basic tool troubleshooting and follow maintenance or service escalation procedures\n * Willing and able to work second shift (2 PM \u2013 11 PM)\n * Comfortable working in a laboratory and cleanroom environment\n * Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical procedures and documentation\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\n * Experience with one or more of the following metrology techniques:\n * Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM)\n * X-ray Diffraction / X-ray Reflectivity (XRD/XRR)\n * Spectroscopic Ellipsometry (SE)\n * Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)\n * Focused Ion Beam (FIB)\n * Experience handling wafers or small samples in a controlled environment\n * Familiarity with basic data analysis and technical documentation\n * Coursework or practical knowledge in:\n * Crystal structures\n * Materials properties\n\n\n\n## Qualifications\n\n### Education:\n\nAssociate\u0027s Degree\n\n### Skills\n\n### Certifications:\n\n### Languages:\n\n### Years of Experience:\n\n2 - 4 Years\n\n### Work Experience:\n\n## Additional Information\n\n### \n\n### Shift:\n\n20-Swing (United States of America)\n\n### \n\n### Travel:\n\nNo\n\n### \n\n### Relocation Eligible:\n\nNo\n\n### Referral Payment Plan:\n\nNone\n\nU.S. Salary Range:\n\n$25.00 - $34.70\n\nThe salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members.
