Description
Under the direct supervision of the Head of School, the Secondary High School Teacher (Mathematics & Science) plans and delivers rigorous, standards-aligned instruction in secondary mathematics and/or science courses while supporting the school’s integrated STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) framework.
This teacher provides high-quality instruction in core math and science content areas, fostering analytical reasoning, quantitative literacy, scientific inquiry, and real-world problem-solving skills. The teacher creates a classroom environment that promotes academic excellence, intellectual curiosity, collaboration, and innovation.
Assignments may include teaching Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Biology, Chemistry, Physical Science, Environmental Science, or related secondary courses. The role also includes integrating engineering practices, technology tools, and interdisciplinary STEAM connections into core math and science instruction.

Salary
The salary for this 9-month position will be based on a salary scale. Actual salary placement will be in accordance with the procedures of Glenwood Academy.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Science, Education, Engineering, or a related field.
Licenses and Certification
Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland teaching certificate in Mathematics and/or Science is preferred.

Physical and Environmental Conditions
The work of this class is generally performed in a school environment, including classroom, laboratory, and makerspace settings. Work may require flexibility to move throughout the school and manage laboratory and instructional equipment.
