Job Description - Security Guard, $24 to $27.63/hr DOE, 30hrs/week Full Time

Description

SUMMARY: This position patrols and secures the interior and exterior of the property and grounds at the Grand Timber Lodge, to ensure all guests, owners and staff are safe and secure. Additionally, this position handles all escalated guest disputes, complaints and incidents, and responds to medical and fire emergencies on property. The application window for this position closes on April 18th, 2025 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Including but not limited to:  

  • Patrol and secure the interior and exterior of the property and grounds regularly.  
  • Ensure all guests, owners, and staff are safe and secure.
  • Handle all escalated guest disputes, complaints and incidents, and respond to medical and fire emergencies on property. Involve the proper authorities as needed.  
  • Complete nightly patrol logs and submit them to the appropriate parties.
  • Monitor parking to ensure only authorized guests and owners are parking on property.
  • Handle basic late night mechanical issues such as breakers, water leaks and unit fire alarms.
  • Perform building “fire walks” if the fire alarm system goes offline.  
  • Help evacuate guests during emergencies.  
  • Foster strong cross department communications and synergy.  
  • Uphold Hospitality Standards, Company Culture, Department Core Standards and observe Company policies and procedures.
  • Be the “End of the Line” and resolve every situation inherited, not passing it along, whenever possible.
  • Follow up on any situation that is not fully resolved at the time of the initial request, always giving consideration to what the guest or owner deems appropriate.
  • Strive to close the loop (alleviate or eliminate issues) on any situations that cannot be fully resolved.
  • Respond promptly to all email and voicemail correspondence.  
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all contacts, always being helpful and courteous.  
  • Wear proper uniform and name badge and adhere to Company appearance standards at all times.
  • Attend and participate in company-wide training sessions and department staff meetings.  

MARGINAL DUTIES: Functions that are not considered essential to the job:  

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Follow Company guidelines for environmental sustainability practices (recycling, composting and conserving resources) and participate in the Company’s sustainability initiatives. 
  • Participate in the Crisis Management Team (CMT) and be ready, willing and able to perform all expected functions.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; six months to one-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Company First Responder certification is required within 90 days of employment. Company First Responder certification must be maintained throughout employment.

COMPUTER EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel and Outlook). Knowledge of office machines (calculator, copier, fax, phone and scanner). Ability to type by touch, operate a personal computer and accurately record time worked, in the correct department, using the Company time keeping system.  

LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to speak, read, write and interpret in English. Ability to read and interpret business correspondence, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and safety rules. Ability to write business correspondence and routine logs and reports. Ability to speak effectively and present information to guests and owners, other employees of the organization and law enforcement.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  

  • Stand and walk over 2/3 of the time.
  • Speak and listen in person, over the phone and over the radio over 2/3 of the time.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
  • Lift 10 to 50 pounds between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
  • Smell between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
  • Push using upper extremities to press with force to thrust forward, downward or outward between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
  • Pull using upper extremities to exert force to draw, haul or tug objects between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
  • Lift 100 or more pounds under 1/3 of the time.
  • Sit and work at a computer workstation (using mouse and keyboard) under 1/3 of the time.
  • Perform repetitive motions of the arms (elbows, wrists, hands and fingers) under 1/3 of the time.
  • Use hands and fingers to touch, handle, feel or grasp under 1/3 of the time.
  • Reach with arms under 1/3 of the time.
  • Requires close, distance, color and peripheral vision, close visual acuity and depth perception.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The environmental conditions the employee will have exposure to:  

  • Outdoor weather conditions such as sun, ice, snow, wind, dust, rain and humidity between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
  • Proximity to moving vehicles between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
  • Proximity to moving mechanical parts and electrical current under 1/3 of the time.
  • Fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, hazards and vibration under 1/3 of the time.
  • Exposure to extreme cold (below 32 degrees) and extreme heat (above 100 degrees) under 1/3 of the time.
  • Exposure to narrow and enclosed areas that could cause claustrophobia under 1/3 of the time.  
  • Office or administrative environment under 1/3 of the time.
  • Pets and pet dander when in contact with pet friendly locations around the company. Occasional service animals.
  • Moderate noise.
