Security Officer - Armed Per Diem (Stony Brook Southampton Hospital)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Armed Security Officer is responsible for providing a higher level of protection for the Staff, Patients and Visitors. Patrols and monitors facilities and surrounding property to safeguard people and assets, deter fire, theft, vandalism, unauthorized access, and ensure compliance with organizational policies. Enforces access control procedures, secures doors and other entry points, and activates or deactivates alarm systems as needed. Manages and directs pedestrian and vehicle traffic in a safe, orderly, and professional manner while maintaining a respectful approach.

JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Protect the Patients and the Staff by utilizing effective armed security patrols.
• Protect and Safeguard Hospitals assets.
• Member of the Fire Control Team/Protect Fire Scene.
• Investigate and document security incidents.
• Assigned to special assignment that requires an armed security presence.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• New York State Driver's License.
• Active New York State Armed Security Guard License.
• Min 3 years armed security guard experience, OR Active/Retired law enforcement. 
• Annual firearms requalification. 
• Valid NYS Pistol License. 
• Current BLS and First Aid provider certification from the American Heart Association required within 3 Months of hire. A BLS Instructor certification from the American Heart Association can be accepted in lieu of BLS and First Aid provider certifications. 
• Current CPI and Four Point Restraint certifications required within 3 months of hire. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking.

As part of employment at Southampton Hospital, there may be occasions when travel to other locations is needed to support operational needs.

• This function/position maybe designated as “essential.” This means that when the Hospital is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in such positions may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations at Stony Brook Medicine, Stony Brook Southampton Hospital and related facilities. 

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established based on relevant experience.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBSH’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
