Security Safety Professional

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Security Safety Professional to work on our Environment, Safety, Health & Quality (ESHQ) team. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Central Facilities Area with every Friday off.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

• Apply knowledge of firearms and advanced weapon systems, including SRT/SWAT operations, Engagement Simulation Systems, Force-on-Force operations, explosives, ballistics, exothermic breaching, and mechanical breaching safety in support of Security Operations. 
• Provide technical support and develop effective solutions for identifying and controlling hazards within assigned organizations in support of organizational missions and goals.
• Develop and implement health and safety programs consistent with regulatory requirements and company standards.
• Conduct workplace health and safety assessments and recommend appropriate improvements.
• Provide safety support and peer review across Laboratory teams/projects and, as applicable, to organizations outside the Laboratory, using knowledge of safety principles, materials, processes, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Conduct accident and injury investigations and provide guidance on hazard mitigation using the Integrated Safety Management System.
• Provide technical support to work organizations in interpreting and implementing assigned programs and requirements.
• Evaluate organizational risks and prioritize goals and objectives to support an effective management assessment program.
• Participate in hazard evaluation groups to identify, analyze, and control hazards. Review work control documents and site plans.
• Contribute to routine reports supporting metrics and assurance activities.
• May develop and deliver Laboratory-wide training programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned that are consistent with the responsibilities of the position.
  
  Minimum Qualifications:
   
• Level 2: Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant technical field from an accredited institution and 2 years of related professional experience or Masters degree. In lieu of degree 8 years of Firearms training, SWAT/SRT experience.
• Level 3: Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant technical field from an accredited institution and 5 years of related professional experience or Masters degree and 2 years of related professional experience. In lieu of degree 11 years of Firearms training, SWAT/SRT experience.
• Ability to gain and maintain Security Police Officer III Instructor Certification from the National Training Center.
• Ability to gain and maintain Human Performance Improvement Practitioner Level Certification.
• Experience with Firearms training, SWAT/SRT.
• This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
  
  The ideal candidate will possess:
   
• Demonstrated ability to obtain and maintain the applicable INL Security Safety Professional Qualification. 
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, DOE, ANSI, and other relevant standards, orders, and regulations applicable to the assignment.
• National Training Center (NTC) certifications supporting advanced safety, security, or operational readiness functions. 
• Formal explosives training and the ability to apply explosive safety principles to INL programs and operational activities.
•  Demonstrated Leadership and influence in training team members in firearms, explosives, and ESS training activities.
  
  Physical Requirements:
  The essential functions of this position may involve work in office, field, laboratory, and industrial environments and may require standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching, handling materials, using tools or equipment, and operating a keyboard or similar devices. Depending on the assignment, work may involve ladders greater than 6 feet, protective clothing or equipment, vehicle operation, and occasionally lifting or moving items weighing up to 35 pounds. The position requires the ability to obtain and communicate information necessary to perform assigned work safely and effectively. Working Conditions:
Work may be performed in office, outdoor/field, laboratory, and industrial environments. Depending on the assignment, employees may encounter construction, industrial, laboratory, chemical, radiological, noise, temperature, and other workplace hazards for which appropriate controls, training, and protective measures are provided. Periodic travel and safety training may be required. Some assignments may require irregular or extended shifts and independent work.
 

Job Information:
 

• The pay range for this position is: Level 2 ($66,504 - $136,356) / Level 3 ($79,344 - $162,732). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
• Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
• TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
