Security Technician

Shodair Children’s Hospital is seeking a Security Technician to join our Facilities & Grounds team. This position plays a key role in ensuring a secure, supportive environment for our patients, families, and staff. Working in the Central Monitoring Room and across the hospital campus, the Security Technician assists with monitoring, safety checks, documentation, and coordination with clinical staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor surveillance systems and support the Security team from the Central Monitoring Room 
• Perform preventative maintenance and security tasks; log and report results 
• Test and document hospital equipment to ensure operational safety 
• Assist clinical staff with video monitoring and patient belongings check-in 
• Audit and maintain accurate security documentation 
• Communicate incidents and concerns to Security staff and administration 
• Stay current on mandatory training and security procedures
• Must be able to successfully perform physical holds, movements and carries.
• Blocking and redirecting patient movements against the patient’s weight
• Physical interventions in response to aggressive and self-injurious behavior.
• Ability to move quickly and confidently to intervene in situations when protective holds and/or movements are deemed necessary.
• Physically able to perform, but not but not limited to: pivoting, knee squats, shuffling front and backwards, assisting with carrying a person, assisting a person to the floor, stabilizing people in standing, seated, prone and supine positions.

• High school diploma or equivalent required 
• Previous experience in maintenance or security preferred 
• Basic computer, math, and writing skills required 
• Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods 
• Reliable and available to work weekends and holidays 
• Able to work independently and adapt to changing situations
