What you will have an opportunity to do:

Position Summary

The Security Officer / Operations Support position is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for guests, colleagues, and visitors during evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts. This role serves as the primary on-site resource for security-related matters while also providing operational support across hotel departments as business needs dictate.

The ideal candidate is dependable, service-oriented, highly visible, and capable of responding to security concerns while assisting departments with various operational tasks to ensure exceptional guest experiences and smooth hotel operations.

Essential Job Functions

Security & Safety Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular interior and exterior property patrols to ensure the safety and security of guests, colleagues, and hotel assets.
  • Monitor hotel grounds, entrances, parking areas, and public spaces for suspicious activity, safety hazards, or policy violations.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest concerns, disturbances, emergencies, and security incidents.
  • Complete detailed incident reports and maintain accurate security logs.
  • Assist with emergency response procedures, including fire alarms, medical emergencies, severe weather events, and property evacuations.
  • Ensure all exterior doors, gates, and restricted-access areas are secured appropriately.
  • Monitor CCTV systems and other security equipment as applicable.
  • Support loss prevention efforts by identifying and reporting potential risks.
  • Maintain a visible presence throughout the property to deter misconduct and provide assistance when needed.
  • Enforce hotel policies and procedures in a professional and respectful manner.

Operations Support Responsibilities

During periods of low security activity, this position will provide support to various departments throughout the hotel, including but not limited to:

Front Office

  • Assist guests with directions and general inquiries.
  • Support luggage assistance and guest requests.
  • Deliver guest amenities and messages as needed.

Housekeeping

  • Assist with linen deliveries and supply transportation.
  • Support public area cleanliness and appearance standards.
  • Help with room readiness projects as directed.

Food & Beverage

  • Assist with banquet setup and breakdown.
  • Support outlet cleanliness and organization.
  • Deliver supplies and assist with event logistics.

Engineering/Maintenance

  • Report maintenance concerns and safety hazards.
  • Assist with basic non-technical projects and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Support facility inspections.

Other Departments

  • Provide general operational assistance based on business demands.
  • Participate in special projects, colleague events, and hotel initiatives.
  • Support department leaders during peak business periods.

What are we looking for?

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous security, hospitality, military, law enforcement, customer service, or operations experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional during emergencies.
  • Excellent observation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Basic computer skills and report-writing capabilities.
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification.

Schedule Requirements

  • Must be available to work evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules based on operational needs.
  • Ability to remain on-site and independently manage security-related situations during non-business hours.
