Select Consultant, Property & Casualty

As a Select Consultant, P&C, you will provide proactive property and casualty account management and outstanding consultative service to prospects and clients within our Small Business Department.

• Organization and Time Management: Use your skills to proactively and independently manage your book of business. Be able to anticipate future demands of clients and adjust accordingly. Consider conflicting demands and be able to prioritize those appropriately.
• Consensus Building: Identify and propose win-win solutions with clients and carriers as well as advocate for your clients to put them in the best position possible to succeed. Build trust and rapport with your clients as you will be their primary point of contact.
• Information Seeking: Develop your desire to know more about people and issues by going beyond the general questions. You will be able to dig into the information and clarify unclear details to make sure you have all of the facts. This could be learning about a new client referral or getting facts and exposure details on new business opportunities.
• Industry Expert & Professional Development: Act as the subject matter expert in property and casualty insurance products, coverages and nuances. Establish a strong rapport with insurance company representatives and underwriters. Stay abreast of industry and marketplace trends and changes. Grow in your professional knowledge with continued education courses, insurance designations, and review of insurance industry periodicals.

• You have, or are willing to earn and maintain, a valid Wisconsin Property & Casualty insurance license within 3 months of hire.
• You have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• You have a minimum three years in a Property and Casualty insurance industry service role (with more experience preferred), preferably with time spent as the primary contact for clients.
• A college degree is preferred, but we do also value direct work experience.
• You should have the ability to understand, analyze and explain insurance coverages and concepts; and have familiarity navigating forms and policies.
• You can safeguard, protect, and respect confidential client, carrier and agency information.
• You are comfortable on a computer and won’t have any concerns navigating an array of carrier websites and computer programs.
• You are a kind and empathetic colleague that values a welcoming office environment for all.
• You are a clear and effective writer and a strong conversationalist. You can command the attention of small groups, even if you aren’t necessarily comfortable in front of large audiences. Your ability to train or teach others to understand challenging concepts will be key.
• You’re great at prioritizing competing interests and know when to delegate work to others.

Physical Requirements:

• Able to work in a stationary position 90% of the time.
• Constantly able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery 90% of the time.
• Constantly able to observe details, including letters, numbers and colors, at close range.
• Able to move or transport objects weighing up to 20lbs. Frequency and duration will vary

Working Conditions:

• Position will be headquartered in the Madison, WI or Milwaukee, WI office.
• Occasional travel to client offices and networking events will be expected.
• Regularly work during our core business hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.  
• Hausmann Group offers a hybrid working environment with three days in the office and up to two days at home.
