Job Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities outlined below include essential functions of the role. Depending on business needs, this role may perform a combination of some or all the following duties. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting financial operations. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, this position plays a key role in the monthly financial closing process. You will collaborate with other departments to resolve financial discrepancies and ensure adherence to company policies while also assisting with special projects and financial analysis. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Daily Financial Duties: 

  • Review journal entries proposed by Finance team members to ensure correct coding before they are posted to the general ledger. 
  • Review Accounts Payable invoices entered by Finance team members to ensure correct coding before they are posted to the general ledger. 
  • Serve as a liaison between the Finance department and all operations departments to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial performance. 

Weekly & Semi-Monthly Financial Duties: 

  • Review bi-weekly proposed payroll submission reports prepared by Human Resources team members to ensure accuracy before payroll is submitted to payroll service provider. 
  • Review weekly proposed Accounts Payable payments prepared by Finance team members. 

Monthly Financial Duties:  

  • Lead the month-end closing process, including the preparation of financial statements. 
  • Review monthly bank and credit card reconciliations prepared by Finance team members. 
  • Prepare monthly Balance Sheet general ledger account reconciliations for review by Chief Administrative Officer. 
  • Manage fixed assets, including maintaining GAAP depreciation schedules. 
  • Prepare and enter journal entries, including month-end accruals to ensure accurate presentation of financial statements. 
  • Meet with Business Unit owners monthly to review Accounts Receivables and oversee collection efforts. 

Other Duties: 

  • Support the preparation of year-end reporting to be provided to outside CPA for tax preparation. 
  • Correspond with and support outside CPAs in the preparation of annual audits. 
  • Assist with special projects, financial analysis, and other assignments as needed. 
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve financial discrepancies and ensure adherence to company policies. 

Requirements

What you will need to be successful in this role:

  • Located in Lafayette, LA. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in accounting. 
  • CPA or CPA candidate required. 
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and efficiently manage tasks. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and supervision. 
  • Demonstrate creativity and initiative by proposing and implementing improvements. 
  • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Excel. 
  • Experience with Sage Intacct is preferred but not required. 

Pay Range = $85,000 - $95,000 annually
