Job Description - Senior Accountant

Description

Responsible for billing, payroll processing, recording and collecting agency revenue, other general ledger record entry and reconciliation of general ledger accounts.  Includes data entry; filing; and customer service. 

General Accounting  

  1. Responsible for completing monthly billings and follow up collection of claims for Group Home, Waiver, OBRA, and other AR sources. 
  2. Responsible for preparation and import of time card data, time card review, and processing payroll batches for submission. 
  3. Prepare invoices for rental units, rep payee fees, workshop/Docushield, Voc Rehab, and any other invoicing as needed. 
  4. Responsible for posting deposits for payments received electronically.   
  5. Prepare and submit monthly journal entries for month end close processing 
  6. Backup for submitting payroll in Vice President of Finance’s absence. 
  7. Responsible for downloading daily bank activity and submitting EFT batches and transfers to the bank weekly or as needed. 
  8. Review credit card statements verifying accuracy of transactions submitted.  Assist with credit card updates including credit limits as needed. 
  9. Audit Group Home financials monthly 
  10. Prepare Rep Payee Financial Reports as received for Rep Payee individuals 
  11. Prepare lease documents for Carey owned residential properties and assist with the preparation of leases for IHCDA low income housing units. 
  12. Track receipt and ensure completion of the Group Home Laundry Time Studies by Group Home Managers. 
  13. Reconcile various general ledger accounts. 
  14. Protect information from unauthorized access and maintain and assure security of output documentation. 
  15. Assist business office with other duties as assigned. 

Reporting and Record Keeping 

  1. Responsible for completing monthly financial/statistical reports for internal and external reporting. 
  2. Maintain filing and back-up support for payables and reports.  
  3. Prepare and distribute Cost Center Reports to department managers monthly. 

Housekeeping 

  1. Promote agency wide safety and housekeeping as as well as take a proactive approach to preventative maintenance and delivery of quality service. 

Requirements

 

Occupational Competencies 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field preferred, Associate degree and five years of experience in accounting/finance.  Computer experience required.

Job Details:  

  • Knowledge:  Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, personal computer functions-including a proficiency in spreadsheets, word processing and internet, understanding of internal control structures. 
  • Skills and Abilities: Adaptability and flexibility, teamwork, communication (written and oral), initiative, sound judgment, problem solving, organizational, leadership, and time management skills. 
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to bend, stoop, or stand for long periods of time and push, pull and maneuver, up/down, with accommodation to specific jobs.  Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment such as, but not limited to: gloves, masks, gowns, face shields, shoes, ear plugs, etc.  Must be able to follow all required safe and universal precaution practices during a pandemic and as required otherwise.
