Senior Accountant

Freeman Webb provides professional, personalized property management services throughout the Southeast. The company owns and/or manages a long-term portfolio of residential multifamily and commercial properties. The accounting department supports property operations and provides financial reports for senior management and ownership entities.

Senior Accountants work closely with staff accountants, property and regional managers to ensure financial reports accurately reflect the financial position of each property.

Responsibilities

• Produce and review monthly financial reports
• Reconcile bank accounts and prevent, identify, and resolve reconciling items
• Maintain accounting records in accordance with the requirements of ownership
• Prepare and record journal entries including accruals, depreciation, reclasses, etc.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts to sub-ledgers and ensure variances are resolved prior to producing financial reports
• Reconcile mortgage accounts to mortgage statement each month
• Organize and submit annual audit documentation for external audits and field auditor questions
• Monitor cash flow and report on cash status as needed
• Resolve accounting issues encountered during normal operations
• Supervise accounts payable process and enter bills and/or process checks when necessary
• Support property operations in various capacities including answering property manager, regional manager, and owner questions
• Assist team in performing other duties as needed or assigned by Accounting Director

Qualifications

• Either a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or 5+ years of accounting experience
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
• Excellent communication and organization skills
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Flexible team-oriented attitude
• Yardi accounting software experience preferred
